Michael Rothstein received a B. S. in Mathematics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 1970, and his M. S. and Ph. D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1974 and 1976 respectively. He was a Post-Doctoral Student at the University of Utah in 1975-76, and an Assistant (then Aggregate) Professor in Computer Science at Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela in 1977-1979. Since 1980, he has been at Kent State University, first as an Assistant, then as an Associate Professor in Computer Science. His research interests include algorithms and systems for symbolic and algebraic computation, parallel computations, symbolic-numeric interfaces, high-level languages, object-oriented programming, scientific user interfaces, and functional language implementations. In the past, he has been supported by the National Science Foundation. His present activities include research into massively parallel computer algebra algorithms and symbolic-numeric hybrid algorithms.
