If you are a professor, graduate student, or undergraduate student in the KSU CS Department, you should consider putting together a poster for the 2009 Annual KSU CS Open House, Career Fair, Awards Ceremony, and Poster Conference. Not only do we expect visitors from outside the department to attend, including other KSU faculty and students, but this year we will have guests from various companies based in northeastern Ohio, including a seminar by a local IT leader. All poster submissions must be in by 5:00pm on April 27th, 2009. Details on submitting posters are found under How to Submit a Poster.

2009 Poster Competition Categories

1. Best Poster - Presentation and Organization - Awards to be based upon presentation criteria such as clarity, visual flow of content, overall organization, style and structure. In this category there is an undergraduate competition and a graduate competition with awards to be given in each category. All undergraduate and graduate posters can be considered for these new awards.
2. Best Poster - Scientific Advancment - Awards to be based upon the scientific merit of the research using criteria such as a clear demonstration of purpose, a clearly defined contribution to a particular scientific problem, clear presentation of significant result(s). In this category there is an undergraduate competition and a graduate competition with awards to be given in each category. To be eligible for this competition you must submit a one page abstract clearly describing your scientific contribution. Undergraduate and graduate posters can be considered for these awards.
3. Best Poster - Business or Industrial Focus - This year there is a new category for judging posters; the category is potential use in business or industry. In this category there is an undergraduate competition and a graduate competition with awards to be given in each category. The criteria which the judges will be using include: how innovative and well thought out is the idea(s), how much discovery and research went into developing it, does it build on existing technology or propose new ones, and is there realistic commercial potential? All undergraduate and graduate posters can be considered for these new awards.
