How to Print a Poster

KSU Computer Science Department
First Annual Poster Conference / Open House

For those responding to the Call For Posters for the First Annual KSU CS Poster Conference / Open House, this document provides information on how to print your poster. For information on how to prepare your poster, see How to Prepare a Poster.

How to get your poster printed:

  1. First, remember that the CS Department will pay for ONE printing of your poster, at the "official" poster size of 24"x36" (see How to Prepare a Poster).
    • The CS Department will pay to print your poster ONCE, on 24"x36" paper. If you prepare a poster that's too large and we don't notice that and Kinkos doesn't scale it and they print only the upper left corner, it's up to you to arrange (and pay for) a reprint if you want one.
    • The CS Department will pay to print your poster ONCE. Print a small version locally and proof it carefully before you submit it to be printed poster size. If you find errors once it's printed poster size, it's up to you to arrange (and pay for) a reprint if you want one.
    • If you want a bigger poster you have to arrange (and pay for) that yourself; with the large volume of posters we'll be processing we can't handle special requests.

  2. When you finish your poster, name the PowerPoint file as follows (please don't invent other naming schemes):
    • Faculty members (e.g., for lab overview posters) -- name your file with your last name, such as "Walker.ppt"
    • Graduate students -- name your file with your advisor's last name, and your last name, such as "Walker.Schaffer.ppt"
    • Undergraduate students -- name your file with your advisor's last name, and either the club or class name, such as "Pechenuk.ACM.ppt"
    • If an individual or lab has more than one poster, add a number to each file name, such as "Walker.1.ppt" and "Walker.2.ppt"

  3. Email your file to Valorie Adkins (vadkins@cs.kent.edu) by 11:00am on Friday 14 April, Monday 17 April, or Tuesday 18 April.
    • When Valorie receives your email, can open your file, and confirms that it is 24"x36", she will acknowledge your submission by email. If you don't get an email from her, contact her to verify that she has received your poster.
    • It will take TWO DAYS to get your poster back.
