FAQ

General Questions

  • Dear professor ...

I'm not professor, just teaching assistant.

  • I understand nothing.

First of all what don't you understand? If it is my English, I'm sorry. If I say or write something that is not understandable or completely stupid, please let me know.

If you don't understand the stuff I'm trying to teach you, there are multiple ways to deal with it. In class you have the opportunity to ask me directly. In doubt just interrupt me. Another option is to come to my office hours and ask me there. Or send me an email. You can also have a look in the book. There is always a chapter covering the current topic. Another option is to try other references. Try other books, the Wikipedia, YouTube or just google our current topic. Last but not least, ask other students.

  • I have no time during your office hours.

If you want to talk with me, you can send me an email and we make an appointment. Please send some suggestions when you have time and would like to meet me.

You can also try to come to my office without an appointment, but the chance to meet me there is quite low.

Homework

  • How do I hand in my homework?

Write it on a sheet of paper and bring it with to class. You can also send it to me as email. I also have a mailbox in the computer science department.

  • Do I need to print the page with the problems?

No. Just put the number of the problem before your solution. If your solution is spread over multiple pages, please write number on each page.

  • Is it enough to write down the final solution?

It depends. For True or False questions it is usually enough to write the solution. The same holds for problems like "How many ...". However, if you write down how you get the solution, you can get partial credits for your solution even if it is wrong. This also gives me the opportunity to show you where the mistake was. In doubt, write it down.

  • Anything else?

Please write your full name (first and last name) on each sheet of paper.

Write readable. If I can not read it, you will get no points for it.

Leave some space for corrections and comments.
