Their Majesties King Mihai and Queen Ana arrived yesterday, April 8 1999,
in
Bucharest. Hundreds of monarchists and different personalities of the
Romanian public life awaited the King and The Queen at the Otopeni
Airport.
Among them were father Sandi Mehedintiu (who was the priest who rang the
chimes of his church during the Romanian Revolution in December 21, 1989),
Coposu sisters (their brother, late Corneliu Coposu, was the leader of the
democratic opposition), the Prefect of Ilfov County, the mayor of Vidra
village near Bucharest, Simina Mezincescu (leader of "The Future
Romania"),
Viorica Bucuresteanu, Marilena Rotaru, historian Radu Ionescu and Dragan
Ozevea (on behalf of the Romanian Association Rin Main from Germany).
From the airport, Their Majesties went to the Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel. On April 9, Their Majesties will travel to Constanta County, were they will spend Easter, in the Techirghiol Monastery. In the Techirghiol Monastery there is a small church made of wood which was removed by the communists from the Royal Castle "Peles". HM King Mihai is very anxious to see the small church after more than 52 years. His Majesty The King wishes "Happy Easter" to everyone.
