Their Majesties King Mihai and Queen Ana spent Easter at Techirghiol (Constanta County)
On Easter Night thousands of Christians went to Techirghiol Monastery, where the small wooden church from Peles Royal Castle was reinstalled after the communists forced King Mihai to abdicate. Traditionally, the Royal Family used to attend mass in this church during Christian Holidays. HM King Mihai found out last year that the church is now in Constanta County and promised the nuns that he would spend Easter in Techirghiol.
During the second and the third Easter Day, Their Majesties visited some villages from Tulcea county. This visit was initially planned for last year but it was cancelled because HM the King had wanted to go to the regions severely affected by floods in north-western part of Romania. King Mihai and Queen Ana were invited to have lunch with the fishermen Jurilovca village. This village, placed on Lake Razem shore, a big lake connected with Black Sea, is inhabited by the community of "lipoveni", fishermen of Russian ancestry. On 13th of April, Their Majesties visited "Stejarul" (Oak) Village, with a population mainly of Macedonian origin.
On April 14, Their Majesties King Mihai and Queen Ana will come back to Bucharest. They will leave for Versoix on Saturday, 17 April 1999.
Note: Constanta and Tulcea are the two Romanian counties on the Black Sea coast. Constanta City is the bigest Romanian harbour. The famous Danube Delta is placed in Tulcea County.
