3Tuesday - ASME Industry Expo at the Sons of Herman, 694 E. Waterloo Rd., Akron. 5:30 PM - Dinner: Chicken, sausage sandwiches, au gratin potatoes, cole slaw, pop, and beer. Cost: FREE to all! Reservations: none needed. The Akron ASME Industry Expo is organized to highlight our local industry. It is the time for networking, socializing and fun. This meeting brings together our sponsors, local industry representatives, our Akron Section ASME members, ASME members of other sections, members of other technical societies, and technical students from local colleges. Industry representatives will showcase their products and capabilities in an informal trade show type environment to the engineers and students from our area. This is a great way to make contacts, and you may solve your technical challenges. Engineering, Manufacturing, and Support companies will be present.

16Monday - SPE Joint Meeting with the Cleveland Section at the Martin Center, University of Akron. 5:00 PM Cash Bar - 6:00 PM Dinner. Program following dinner - Dr. Xiong Gong, University Of Akron-Polymer Engineering will speak on Flexible Electronics. Dr. Carin A. Helfer, Assistant Director for Science Education Outreach for the Akron Global Polymer Academy in the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron and the Director of the Akron Regional Science Olympiad will speak on Akron Global Polymer Academy Outreach. $25.00 Member and/or guest - $20.00 Retired - $5.00 Student. 7Monday - SPE Picnic and Ball Game at Canal Park (home of the Akron Aeros), 300 South Main Street, Akron, OH. AGENDA: 5:00 PM - Canal Park Tour; 6:00 PM - All You Can Eat Picnic; and 7:00 PM - Ball Game - Akron Aeros vs. the Erie Sea Wolves (Detroit Tigers Farm Team). 12Saturday - ASME Tour of NASA Plum Brook Station. 10:00 am - Arrive at NASA Plum Brook Station Main Gate. Show identification, get clearance badged. 10:10 am - Transportation to the Engineering Building, Assembly Area. View video of Plum Brook Station Test Facilities. 10:20 am - Transportation to and Tour of Spacecraft Propulsion Research Facility This is the world's only test facility capable of full-scale rocket engine firings and launch vehicle system level tests at high-altitude conditions. 11:15 am - Transportation to and Tour of Space Power Facility. Home of the world's largest space environment simulation chamber, the facility has tested parts of rockets, Mars Landers and space station hardware. 12:00 pm - Depart Plum Brook Station. 16Wednesday - ACS General Meeting at The Firestone Country Club, 452 E Warner Rd Akron, OH 44319. Lecture by Dr. Kenneth Street, Materials Scientist from NASA - Living on a Dusty Moon. Recognition of Science Fair Winners, Project SEED Students, and 50 year members of Akron Section. 5:30 PM: Social/Networking - 6:00 PM: Dinner ($25 for professionals, $10 for students) - 7:00 PM: Program. The lecture is free and open to the public. Reservations are required for dinner - please contact Dr. Jun Hu (330-972-5343) before noon on Friday, May 11.
17Thursday - ACESS Board of Directors Meeting with the Advisory Council and Presidents/Chairs of the societies. Location: Kent State University Student Center, Conference Room 3rd floor. Time: 5:00 PM. The Presidents/Chairs of member societies are requested to present a short talk on their activities, future plans and what they would like ACESS to do to help the societies. Cost: $25.
