Instructions:
Answer all questions in a series of html files. When these files are completed
send mail to bennett@mcs.kent.edu with the location of the web page where these

- Discuss the operation of the automount daemon (amd).
- What is the relationship between amd and NFS?
- What features does it add to NFS?
- For what deficiencies in NFS does it compensate?
- Discuss the hesiod database. For each file below, comment on if it is
appropriate to store the file in the hesiod database. Your comments should
include but not be limited to issues such as security, system
reconfigurations and daemon rewrites required, and stability and reliability.

- /etc/shadow
- /etc/resolv.conf
- Using rdist, make a copy of a set of files from aegis to an alternative
location on intrepid. Discuss how this can be used to maintain system
files including a password file. What enhancements are needed to make
rdist more useful for maintaining system files?
- Identify all the text in the picture on page 439 of our text book.
Discuss the role of each item with respect to the sendmail configuration file.
