Globus Toolkit Installation and Configuration

• The Globus Toolkit 3.2 Documentation is at http://www-unix.globus.org/toolkit/docs/3.2/index.html
• Reset the root password on your group nodes (and only your nodes). Tell the other member of your group and also notify me and systems.
• Read at least the Administration/Installation Guide at http://www-unix.globus.org/toolkit/docs/3.2/installation/index.html
• Note that you will need the support software at http://www-unix.globus.org/toolkit/docs/3.2/installation/install_support.html
• Downloads of the Globus Toolkit are available at http://www-unix.globus.org/toolkit/downloads/3.2.1/.
  You should use the binary installer and install the version with all services at
  • gt3.2.1-all-linux-glibc2.3-installer.tar.gz (Linux/glibc2.3.2-101.4 binary installer, generated on Fedora Core 1)

• Configure the software on the four nodes allocated to you.

  • Note that you will need to implement a Certificate Authority (CA) using the SimpleCA software.
  • Create certificates for your nodes and for the two people in your group.
  • Arrange to accept the certificates issues by the other 2 groups.
• Run tests of the grid using the The GT3 Grid Integration Test Script - GT3GITS software at http://www.soton.ac.uk/~djb1/gt3gits.html
• Write a report on the process, in particular details any optional choices made in the process of installing or configuring, and any difficulties arising and how you solved them.

  • Each group must implement and test their installation independenty, but groups may discuss difficulties and solutions. However if they do so both groups must indicate such discussions, and who provided what information to whom, in their writeups.
