How can you use the NCBI Bookshelf? Choose a resource from the Bookshelf gateway page to search directly. This can be done by clicking on the icon of the resource (e.g. the image of the textbook cover). very few of the books allow you to directly link to a particular chapter or section. Most books will only allow searches of the content. The difference depends on the agreement between the book publisher and NCBI. Please note that this site will become more useful as you develop a clearer sense of what keywords to use to locate relevant section of the bo ks. For starters locate the textbook "The Cell a Molecular Biology Approach" by G. Cooper" (its the 11th title), click on the title and then enter the search term "gene structure" in the search box. Click on the second search result labeled "Structure and Function of Transcriptional Activators. Navigate to the top os the resulting page and You can now read the section of the book describing Regulation of Transcription in Eukaryotes. Be sure to look at some of the acompanying figures listed on the left side of the page.
