Sensor Network: Security and Challenges
Soumyajit Manna
Wireless Sensor network is a wireless network consisting of spatially
distributed autonomous devices using sensors (termed as node) to
cooperatively monitor physical or environmental situations like
temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion, pollution at
different location. The initial development of Sensor Network was
encouraged by the military application in battle field. Later with
much development in the ideas and technology it serves many civilian
applications as stated above. When we are taking about a system which
servers our important need, that system needs to be secured. So the
security issues come into play. There are some unique challenges
associated with sensor network like limited energy, computation and
communication capability, physical attack, and most important is its
economic viability, traditional network security technique cannot be
applied. So I have surveyed various papers and articles on security on
sensor network and its overcoming technique, and I will discuss these
security challenges and its way to solution and future research work.
