Beowolf Clusters

Beowolf Clusters consist of clusters of commodity processors connected by commodity networks. The commodity processors are mostly Pentiums or DEC Alphas, and the commodity networks vary from Ethernet to Fast Ethernet, Myrinet, and ATM. The Beowulf Project was started at CESDIS in the summer of 1994 with the assembly of a 16 node cluster developed for the Earth and space sciences project (ESS) at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The project quickly spread to other NASA sites, other R&D labs and to universities around the world. The project's scope and the number of Beowulf installations have grown over the years.

Linux Mailing List Archives

Linux
There are a large number of mailing lists related to Linux. They are hosted at various sites around the world. Indiana University has created hypermail archives of some that may be of interest. There are also text archives available via ftp.
