• To study each of the real-life OS more closely we will form focused study groups with 2 members in each. Suggested Operating Systems are listed in first column of the above table.
• Each group will prepare one report on each of these OS and will make one 30 min class presentation.
• Within each group, every one responsibility will be specific. One group member will be personally in charge of one of the sub-topics. Suggested sub-topics are listed in the first row of the above table.
• Each student will sign on one of the cells of the above table.
• The presentation and report should contain an introduction, which should provide a overview of the OS and highlight its design goals, principal features and overall architecture. All members will be responsible for preparing the Introduction.
• Students should consult materials beyond text book to study the topics/sub-topics. You are encouraged to go through other text books, visit library, read magazine papers and browse documents available in web to gather information about your topic.
• BEFORE PRESENTATION, Each group will need to setup a 20 min appointment with me to discuss their presentation. Each group will need to present their system with no more than 10 slides/transparencies. A draft of the transparencies have to be prepared before this interview.
