- Mathematics & Computer Science & Chemistry
- Scholarship established 1981
- Prize:
- $600 Academic Year, administered by College/University, funded by the Lubrizol Foundation
- Criteria:
- The Scholarship is to be awarded to a junior or senior in the Department of
Mathematics and Computer Science based upon scholastic ability. Financial need
is not a requirement. This Scholarship is awarded one per academic year; the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, and the Department of Chemistry
each select one recipient.
- Deadline Date:
- Selection of awardee should be completed by the end of Spring Semester. Selection
of the recipient shall be made solely by the college or university, following the
recommendation by the department.
- Required Information:
- The Undergraduate Coordinator will forward memorandum to Financial Aid Office with
the following information by August 1st:
- 1) Full name and social security number of recipient.
- 2) Permanent home address of recipient.
- 3) Grade point average credit completed by recipient.
- Financial Aid Office:
- will send a letter of award to the recipient. Stipend will be $600 for the academic
year, or $300 per semester. Insure recipient attends both semesters.
- AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS EXAMINATION SCHOLARSHIP

- Mathematics & Computer Science
- Scholarship established 1982
- Prize:
- $500 for tuition, administered by the Undergraduate Coordinator,
funded by the Mathematics General Fund
- Criteria:
- Entering freshman to Kent State University whose major is mathematics. Score high
in the American High School Mathematics Examination. This scholarship is awarded
one per academic year.
- Deadline Date:
- Selection of the awardee should be completed by the end of Spring Semester. Check
to be at the Bursar's Office by August 1st, to be used for Fall Semester tuition.
- Required Information:
- Undergraduate Coordinator is to give Diana Yee information of the recipient by May 30th.
- HARSHBARGER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

- Scholarship established 1987
- Prize:
- $100 - $400 and certificate, administered by the Undergraduate Coordinator, funded by
the FOUNDATION Harshbarger Scholarship fund
- Criteria:
- Scholarship is awarded to a recipient in the Department of Mathematics and Computer
Science with a high G.P.A. Reference letters from his/her mathematics and/or computer
science professors are required. This scholarship is awarded one per academic year; more
than one recipient may be chosen depending on funds available (See Diana).
- Deadline Date:
- Selection of the awardee should be completed by the end of Fall Semester.
- Required Information:
- Recipient is required to complete an information sheet (see Diana).
- Honors Day Convocation:
- Recipient, parents and spouse are invited to attend the ceremony in the Spring.
- PI MU EPSILON AWARD

- Scholarship award established 1975
- Prize:
- $50, certificate, and a book, administered by the Pi Mu Epsilon advisor, funded
by the Department General Fund
- Criteria:
- The recipient of the Pi Mu Epsilon Award is an undergraduate student of mathematics
or mathematics education who has exhibited exemplary achievement as a student both
scholastically and through service. The awardee is chosen by the faculty advisor to Pi Mu
Epsilon, but the recipient need not be a member of that organization. As a general rule,
the faculty advisor should select the recipient from among a pool of undergraduates
having a high mathematics G.P.A. Recommendations from faculty teaching upper-division
courses are also desirable, and should be sought out by the faculty advisor. This scholarship
is awarded one per academic year.

- Selection of the awardee should be completed by the end of Fall Semester.
- Required Information:
- Recipient is required to complete an information sheet from the office (see Diana).
- Pi Mu Epsilon Banquet:
- Faculty advisor is to schedule spring banquet and purchase a book to be presented
to the recipient at the banquet.
- Honors Day Convocation:
- Recipient, parents, and spouse are invited to attend the ceremony in the Spring.
- KENNETH B. CUMMINS MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP (SECONDARY EDUCATION)

the FOUNDATION Kenneth B. Cummins Scholarship Fund
- Criteria:
- The scholarship is to be awarded to a junior mathematics education major with a high
G.P.A. Require reference letters from his/her mathematics professors. This award is offered
one per academic year. More than one recipient may be chosen depending on funds available
(see Diana).
