Colliding Meteors

This is a picture of a meteor.

Two meteors start 175,000 miles apart and collide after five minutes. One travels at 2/3 the speed of the other. How far did each travel? Analysis: This problem combines two formulas unknown X factor = rate and rate X time = distance. The time to collision is 5 minutes. Since both meteros are traveling the entire time, both of their travel times are 5 minutes. A third implied formula is based on the fact that the total distance traveled is equal to the sum of the distances traveled by the two meteors.
