Dear Xun, Dr Wang, Here is how you can demo the model site: 1) Go to http://eagle.cs.kent.edu/WME 2) Click on Login. I have set up accounts for both of you with admin and teacher status. The accounts are xlai/1234 and pwang/1234 3) From there, feel free to show them anything.. it should all be working, but do not try to upload and install a TM. Without the proper packing - this could cause some problems. 4) You can show them how courses are managed, and as a teacher, you can manage your lessons. This is where you can customize ALs. 5) Dr. Wang, I have assigned a class for you to teach, so when you click "manage my lessons" you will see the class for which you can customize the TMs. Xun, I have not assigned you any classes, but feel free to assign classes yourself using your administrative status. 6) Once you click "manage lessons" for the respective class, you will be taken to a page that lists all of the installed TMs. From here you may choose which TM to use, which AL to use, which AL to customize, etc. 7) There are 2 that have been made active via the new MPXML scheme. These are "Serving Apples" and "Making Lemonade". If you choose to edit either of them, you will see that you can configure these manipulatives. Do what you want with the parameters, and the effects are taken immediately. 8) You can then act as a student by opening up another window. Go to the model site again at http://eagle.cs.kent.edu/WME. Choose "Learn" on the menu. Navigate to your section. Dr. Wang I believe you are under grade 8 -> Basic Math 2. The students will be taken to a page that shows which TMs you have chosen to use. At this point you can go into the proportions module, click on the AL containing the manipulative that you configured and show that the changes have taken place. Let me know if you have any questions or if you find bugs. I wish you a fun and safe trip, and hope that the tutorial will be a successful step in bringing WME to a broader spectrum. David
