The technical poster session was great! Talking to attendees and interacting is always wonderful. The research poster presented is entitled GATOR and SWAMP: GPU Computing for Sequence Alignment.

The ABC's for ABD's: Tips for Working Your Way through Dissertation to Ph.D.
The Bird-of-a-Feather went well with the three wonderful and diverse women, Shannon Duvall (Elon University), Anne Weinberger Bracy (Intel), and Katarzyna Wac (University of Geneva). Together the four of us created a dynamic and wide-ranging panel of speakers discussing The ABC's for ABD's: Tips for Working Your Way Through Dissertation to Ph.D. I've made the abstract, the slides and a daily log template available here. There is also a Wiki page and some info and comments on the Facebook group. We still welcome your tips, tricks, and stories that helped or are helping you out on your Ph.D. path.

THE ABC’S FOR ABD’S: TIPS FOR WORKING YOUR WAY THROUGH DISSERTATION TO PHD
Location: Torreys Peak III
“All-But-Dissertation” (ABD’s) are candidates in the last stage of a Ph.D. This BoF is intended to support Ph.D. students that are just beginning dissertation work to well established ABD’s. Topics open for discussion include working with your advisor, parsing down your research topic into a workable dissertation, time management, balancing life and work, self-contracts, positive attitude, perseverance and motivation. Participants are invited to add their own topics and questions.
