Comparative study of QoS of Network Monitoring over UDP versus TCP/IP
Asif Iqbal
(Masters Student Presentation)
Network monitoring solutions are prevalent in the industry to monitor
embedded hardware devices remotely. Fault detection of hardware
devices on systems with a diverse software stack is required to be
done remotely in a guaranteed delivery mechanism and as fast as
possible. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) has been widely
used for such applications over UDP for fixed and predefined
payload. I investigate and measure performance improvement or
degradation using SNMP but with a conversion of UDP to TCP/IP in terms
of guaranteed delivery, fixed amount of payload and transmission time.
