GPU Accelerated Modeling of Fluid Flows with Lattice Boltzmann Method

Accurate modeling of fluids has long been a difficult and
computationally expensive problem for sciences and engineering.
Lattice Boltzmann method is a discrete computational method for
simulating flows of Newtonian fluids based on the Boltzmann equation.
Due to its discrete nature, lattice Boltzmann method is easily
parallelizable.
I will provide some background on the lattice Boltzmann method itself,
as well as its parallel implementation on GPUs. I will also discuss
future directions and applications of LBM, and the direction of my own
preliminary research.
